The flamboyant MET Gala 2019 reunited famous faces from fashion, film, music and art – all following the theme of Camp: Notes on Fashion (or, when theatricality, impersonation, and masquerade meet fashion).
Chaired by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and co-hosted by Lady Gaga and Harry Styles, this year’s rose carpet was full of breathtaking outfits and extravagant posing, and dominated online conversations.
Here is a quick look at the digital chatter, based on over 10 million mentions captured by Sprinklr Listening insights across 26+ social channels, TV and radio broadcasts, and global news print sources.
Often called the “Oscars of the East Coast,” the MET Gala brings together renowned fashion designers, creatives, and top models.
On this year’s rose carpet, Michael Kors accompanied by his muse @GigiHadid; @StuartVevers; Alessandro Michele from @Gucci with @HarryStyles, @Nicolas Ghesquiere, Pierpaolo Piccioli from @MaisonValentino with @NaomiCampbell, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hilfiger, as well as Ralph Lauren’s family.
From the Hadid sisters, to the Kardashian clan, the Olsen twins and even the Jonas brothers; these families took over our social feeds during the MET Gala.

Sophie Turner (aka Sansa in Game of Thrones) and Joe Jonas drew attention, thanks in part to wearing @LouisVuitton on the rose carpet. The couple, just back from their low key wedding in Las Vegas, generated over 30,000 mentions for their METGala debut (with 88% positive sentiment).

Walt Disney’s influence was alive and well on this year’s rose carpet. Katy Perry’s outfit reminded us of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast, Kylie and Kendall Jenner were compared to Cinderella’s stepsisters, and Zendaya came dressed as Cinderella herself.
