Picture this: Each morning I wake up, meditate for 5 minutes, walk among the trees, brew ginger tea, shower and then begin my workday as a remote employee. Some mornings, if I’m lucky, inspiration will strike and I’ll get 30 minutes of personal writing done before I even open Gmail. This morning routine is something that I would only dream about while commuting to my old job on the Blue Line train to downtown Chicago. I knew that combining a flexible work environment with a company that has a strong value system and an unmatched product was my ultimate goal. I just never thought it would actually happen – until I came across Sprinklr.
One day, I was browsing job openings on Linkedin and saw a posting for a Chicago-based remote managed services consultant position. I had previous experience using Sprinklr, so I knew the product was fantastic. I also had a desire for a flexible work environment. As a result, I happily applied for the role.
This December marks my six-month anniversary as a remote managed services consultant at Sprinklr and I’m happy to say that all the things I used to dream about in a job actually came true. Although it’s difficult to choose just a few, here are the top three things I love most about being a remote employee at Sprinklr:
A week before my first day, I received a shipment from the IT department that included my computer, monitor, keyboard and other office essentials. As a result, I felt set up for success even before my first official day. During my onboarding week, there were numerous indications that there would always be a wealth of support available to me.
HR, my manager, my mentor, my teammates, and the product support team were all incredible resources as I navigated my new role. I was completely surprised that my remote onboarding process was smoother and more organized than what I’d previously experienced at on-site roles.
During my second week at Sprinklr, the Culture & Talent team planned an amazing one week orientation program where they invited all the new employees to NYC. The orientation program allowed me to meet new employees from all around the world and gave us visibility to the company’s C-suite including Sprinklr’s founder & CEO Ragy Thomas.
Over the last six months, I’ve attended monthly in-person lunches with teammates in Chicago, holiday parties and company-wide conferences. On days where I don’t have a lot of meetings, I sometimes work at a coffee shop with another Sprinklrite. I am happy to say that I’ve never felt like I was isolated on a remote island – quite the opposite. I have a strong support system at Sprinklr and now understand what it means when people say we have a #SprinklrFamily.
One of the biggest life improvements I’ve experienced has been in the area of productivity. Without a long commute to and from work, I’ve found that I have more time for both work and play. Some days, I’ll use that extra time to start work an hour earlier or if I’m feeling inspired, I’ll use that extra hour to focus on my passion projects.
Additionally, without the distractions of office chatter, I’ve found that I’m more likely to deeply focus on my client projects. As a result, my attention to detail has greatly improved.
One of the major reasons for why my productivity has increased is also due to the library of books that employees receive through Sprinklr’s Audible program.
Sprinklr’s Audible program is amazing because it gives each employee four audiobooks each month and the library includes a large collection of self-development books across multiple genres. In 2019, I listened to 9 different audiobooks as I looked to learn more about building better habits. Books such as Atomic Habits, Essentialism, The Headspace Guide to Meditation, The Daily Stoic, Digital Minimalism and others have been essential to my productivity and personal growth as I navigated working from home. Altogether, working from home has enabled me to be a more productive person.
The flexibility around working from home has led to an increase in both my physical and mental well being. I no longer feel the pressure of stepping away for a lunch break or the rush to find thirty minutes to eat.
While I do miss the free office snacks, I do love that I can make healthier choices at home. Over time, I’ve successfully cut down my caffeine intake and I’ve managed to completely change my diet. Another positive lifestyle change that I’ve experienced relates to mental health. One of my favorite things about working at Sprinklr is the feeling of trust from our managers that you will get your work done. Without the stress and pressure of having a manager’s watchful eye following me around, I’ve been able to feel less anxious and more confident in my work. Overall, working from home can provide lots of positive physical and mental benefits.
I am lucky to have experienced different work environments. I have worked at record labels, PR agencies, startups, and marketing firms but working remotely for Sprinklr has been the best environment for both my productivity and overall well being.
The culture at Sprinklr has been an integral part of my success as a remote employee. Sprinklr has a large global footprint but somehow I’ve never felt like we are all too far away from each other. We are always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.
Six months ago, I was the one asking more experienced employees for help and now, I’m able to pay all knowledge forward to newer teammates. I’ve learned that the Sprinklr way is to treat everyone like family no matter if you work in an office or work remotely. As a result, I wake up every day proud and excited to be a Sprinklr employee.
