The top retail brands understand social relationships with consumers, and manage their experiences in order to facilitate powerful brand-consumer interactions.
People expect more when they shop today: customized experiences, instantaneous assistance and great content.
Sprinklr’s brand analytics ranked 54 of the biggest retail brands to determine who is engaging, connecting, and reaching consumers best over a 30-day data sampling. In the past, we’ve tracked how consumer electronics, automotive, airline and fashion brands are performing on social media.
This week, we’re measuring the world’s biggest retail brands in the following five categories:
Most Social Accounts
We studied 54 retailers and tracked their performance across all social channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+, Foursquare, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Renren, Vkontakte and blogs.
Here’s what we found:
Walmart is certainly living up to its status as the world’s largest retailer on the social front, as it boasts the biggest audience on social by a wide margin. Walmart’s audience is nearly 60% greater than the average of the top 10 brands in that category. The brand also has 3X more company accounts than is typical for leading brands in that category.

Victoria’s Secret has an engagement score 25% higher than the average of brands in that category, and is 15% higher than the runner-up, GameStop.

Staples has one of the highest subscriber-to-participant ratios — 3X greater than the average of the top 10 brands in that category, which includes Lowe’s, Costco and Bed Bath & Beyond.

H&M ranked top 10 in three out of four categories, and its audience size is 20% greater than the average of the top 10 brands in that category.
Ikea has 10% more company accounts than the average of the top 10 in that category, and is the best performing home furnishing brand in the study.
GameStop is the second most-engaged brand in our study, with an engagement score 10% higher than the top 10’s average.
